Edmonton ,Alberta . It is one of few roads in Edmonton that has controlled access and no traffic lights at intersections throughout its length (except one light at 17th Street), in other words afreeway .The western end of the road is formed by an intersection with
Anthony Henday Drive on the west side of the city. The road runs east just to the south ofWest Edmonton Mall , and then bends to the south as it crosses theNorth Saskatchewan River on theQuesnell Bridge , it turns east againt to crossWhitemud Creek , its namsake. After a major intersection withCalgary Trail (Highway 2 South),Gateway Boulevard (Highway 2 North) and the CPR tracks, Whitemud Drive continues east through industrial parks north of theMill Woods area and terminates at an intersection withAnthony Henday Drive on the east side of the city.The section of Whitemud Drive east of Calgary Trail is considered part of
Alberta Highway 14 , while the section west of that is part ofAlberta Highway 2 .Whitemud Drive, between 170 Street and 75 Street, is part of Edmonton's Inner Ring Road. As such, it is a major artery used for moving people and goods around the city.
