20 July 1897 (with the exception of Ventnor Town which opened in 1900). It was equipped with a passing loop, two platforms, a signal box and a substantial station building. The Station buildings and waiting rooms have been converted into two holiday cottages and are highly recommended. Location
Unlike neighbouring Godshill, the station was closer to the community it was meant to serve. It also served the nearby villages of Niton and Chale. The station was situated at the top of Nettlecombe Lane and in recent years has been converted into tasteful holiday accommodation. Even the waiting shelter on the old up platform has been restored.
