Rembrandt is a city in Buena Vista County, Iowa, United States. The population was 228 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Rembrandt is located at 42°49'35" North, 95°9'57" West (42.826417, -95.165927)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.5 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 228 people, 96 households, and 59 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,116.9 people per square mile (440.2/km²). There were 102 housing units at an average density of 499.7/sq mi (196.9/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White.

There were 96 households out of which 32.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 4.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.5% were non-families. 36.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 3.17.

In the city the population was spread out with 28.5% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 24.6% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 15.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $34,375, and the median income for a family was $50,417. Males had a median income of $31,500 versus $17,500 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,248. None of the families and 4.0% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 7.4% of those over 64.
