The athletic programs led by Pearson haves been notable for many years, capturing many championships including baseball (SOSSA WINNERS, but can not touch John F Ross CVI's baseball team, CWOSSA WINNERS and PRENTICE CUP semi finalists, 3rd in the province-what?). The undefeated football team, coached by Regf, has not been beaten in many years. Sir Winston Churchill's 2008 Senior Boys waterpolo team won the 2008 southern ontario waterpolo cup.Fact|date=March 2008
Rest in peace Mark Paul Wojtow. (1989-2008)
Thanks to Devin Schneider and Peter Hindrichs the school has been restored from its formal glory as one of east Hamilton's most respected schools. With many struggling students at the school and only a 13% graduation rate students Larry Huynh and Jordan Earl have made it their goals to help as many students succeed in all aspects of school work. Dedicating mornings, lunches and afternoons to students in need of academic help, they sit down with the students (ranging from grades 10-12) and have one on one time. Ever since this program has started Larry and Jordan have helped over 70 students graduate from Sir Winston Churchill.
With the graduating classes avg steadily dropping below 67%, Larry Win, Jesse Hoage, Mike Redhead, Eric Hipkons, Jordan Earl, Andrew Gapic and Matt Fransis are the powerhouse students that are keeping the avg from dropping below 60%. They have had the highest marks in science, math and english for the last four, and in matt's case nine years of highschool, and show no sign of slowing down the great progress they have achieved.
