The Wheeling Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the
United States Census Bureau , is an area consisting of two counties in the Northern Panhandle ofWest Virginia and one inOhio , anchored by the city of Wheeling. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 153,172 (though a July 1, 2007 estimate placed the population at 145,454).
