After loading cargo, "Lesuth" departed
San Pedro, California ,14 November , arrivingPago Pago ,Samoa , on the 30th. Four days later she arrivedFunafuti ,Ellice Islands and for the next 3 months engaged in training exercises in the South Pacific.Serving South Pacific island bases

Funafuti she steamed to theMarshall Islands , arrivingKwajalein 6 March 1944 as a unit ofService Squadron 8. "Lesuth" remained in theMarshall Islands until she departedKwajalein 6 August forGuadalcanal . She loaded cargo in theSolomons andRussell Islands , then sailed from Manus14 September en route to thePalau -Western Caroline campaign.Supporting the Philippine invasion
The
Palau Islands were of strategic importance as an advance base for the invasion ofLeyte . The initial landings took place15 September , 5 days before "Lesuth" arrived offKossol Passage . For the next 2 months she remained offPeleliu unloading cargo needed for the Philippine assault. Sailing toTulagi andGuadalcanal in late November, the cargo ship departed on the 26th forSan Francisco, California . After overhaul, "Lesuth" rejoined Service Squadron 8 atEniwetok 11 February 1945 . Later that month she sailed for thePhilippines , arriving San Pedro Bay,Leyte , on the 28th. Following 6 weeks of cargo operations off Leyte, she steamed to theUnited States during May and June for additional supplies, then returned toUlithi 25 July .End-of-war activity
When the Japanese surrender ended
World War II , "Lesuth" was used to carry provisions to the occupation troops in theFar East . From September1945 to May1946 , she made cargo runs to Japan, the Philippines,Okinawa , andSaipan , finally departing Saipan5 May . ArrivingSan Francisco, California , on the 24th, "Lesuth" remained there until2 July when she sailed forPearl Harbor .Post-war decommissioning
She decommissioned there
16 August 1946 . "Lesuth" was returned to theMaritime Commission 29 May 1947 and was struck from theNavy list 17 July . In1964 , she was scrapped.Military awards and honors
