Coachford College

Coachford College is a secondary school located in Coachford, Cork, Ireland. Situated in the Lee Valley. Being 18 miles west of Cork city, the rural location offers an interesting choice of schooling for each child in the large catchment area which stretches from Kanturk to Bandon, Ballincollig to Macroom. There are nearly 555 students in the college and nearly 50 teachers. Results are outstanding every year including 3 awards in 2007 for highest marks in a leaving certificate subject in Ireland (Applied Maths, Physics, sex education and Irish) while also highest in Cork for Maths.[citation needed] One Student in 2010 Leaving Cert Exam got 600 points and is now studying medicine where she also got a UCC entrance scholarship. A Junior Cert Student got 8 A's in his 2010 exam. in 2011, a student got 600 points and the school received a large number of awards at the annual VEC awards ceremony. The school website contains all the information on the school including transition year, LCVP and all the subjects. Sporting success is paramount with Hurling, Gaelic football, Camogie, Basketball and Equestrian teams all performing well. The School frequently achieves in all their competitions. Other Teams include AIB School Bank Team, Pi Quiz Team, Junior Maths Team (in which they came 1st place in all of Ireland in 2008 with a full score), Pfizer Chemistry Quiz (victors in 2007), Junior Science Quiz Team (winners in 2003 and 2008), Team Maths and Applied Maths Quiz Team amongst others. The Principal is Mr. Patrick O'Connor and Deputy Principal is Mr. Edward Williamson. Chairperson of the Board of Management is Rev Robin Bantry-White and Chairperson of Parents Association is Mrs. Mary Wallace.

On the 12 of April 2010 coachford won the U14 1/2 football final. They beat MICC (Dumandway) in the final in Brinny.
