Puscha-Vodytsia ( _uk. Пуща-Водиця; _ru. Пуща-Водица) is a historic neighbourhood and climate resort in the northwestern part of
Kiev ("Kyiv"), the capital ofUkraine .Puscha-Vodytsia was named in 1724; the name was combined from two Ukrainian words, "puscha" (пуща) which stands for a dense forest, and "Vodytsia" (Водиця) the name of a nearby river.
In 1899, a
dacha settlement was founded in the Puscha-Vodytsia forests. Later on, Sovietsanatorium s were located in the settlement, as well as in other settlements nearby. In 1981, the village acquired the status of anurban-type settlement , subordinate to the Podilskyi Raion (district) of Kiev, later subordinated to theObolonskyi Raion in 2002.A 1910 church designed by Eduard Bradtman still stands in the city.
