Oklahoma Road Middle SchoolOklahoma Road Middle School (ORMS) is a public middle school in Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It is located on the southeast corner of the county, just north of MD 26 in Eldersburg, MD.

About the School
Oklahoma Road Middle School is located on 6300 Oklahoma Road in Eldersburg or Sykesville, Maryland. The school opened in 1997. The school was named after the road on which it is located. The school district borders West Middle School and Sykesville Middle School. Oklahoma Middle School is fed by Carrolltowne Elementary School, Eldersburg Elementary, and Freedom Elementary. Most students attending Oklahoma Middle School go on to Liberty High School. ORMS was made a Blue Ribbon School in 2010 for Maryland, one of only 2 middle schools selected.
Students
Student population at Oklahoma Road Middle School peaked in 2003 at 902. As of 2007, the student population is 2.6% African-American, 93% European-American, 2.3% Asian-Pacific Islander, 1.7% Hispanic, and less than 1% Native American.[1]
Slightly more than 4% of the students receive free or reduced meals, a percentage that it 50% higher than just several years ago.[2] Nearly 10% of the students receive special education, a number which has only decreased nominally in the past few years.[3] Again, as of 2007, students scored between 87% and 90.8% in grades 6th - 8th for reading and between 74.5% and 87.8% for math, with nearly one-third of the students qualify as advanced.[4]
Oklahoma Road Middle School or ORMS opened mid-way through the 1997 school year, splitting Sykesville Middle School in half.
The "Twister" mascot was created by then, seventh grade student, Eliza Haroldson.
