Carroll County Public Schools (Maryland)

Carroll County Public Schools is a school district based in Westminster, Maryland.

CCPS is the ninth largest in the state of Maryland. More than 27,000 students are enrolled in the county's public schools.

The school system includes all of Carroll County, Maryland.

In testing, the schools typically score slightly above the state and national averages. For example, in the 2003-04 school year, Carroll County students scored 522 on the SAT verbal section and 515 in math, compared to 515 verbal and 511 math statewide and 518 verbal and 508 math nationwide.[1]

The schools are administered by a superintendent of schools, Mr. Stephen H. Guthrie.[1] Guthrie began his first four-year term in the position on July 1, 2010 and will serve as Superintendent through June 30, 2014. The Board of Education consists of five elected Board of Education members and one non-voting student member. As of 2010, the members are Barbara Shreeve, President, Jennifer Seidel Vice-President, Cynthia Foley, Gary Bauer, and Patricia Gadberry. The current student representative is Sampson Fowler.
