Dr. Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq Occupation Senior Lecturer, Virtual Reality
Multimedia UniversityDr. Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq is an architect and currently a Senior Lecturer of virtual reality in the Faculty of Creative Multimedia, Multimedia University. He obtained a Bachelor degree in Architecture (BArch, Honours), Master of Science in Computer-Aided Building Design (MSc in CABD) and PhD in the area of Architectural Animation and Simulation from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland in 1998.
He was the Dean of Faculty of Creative Multimedia and Chairman of Centre of Interpretation and Expression (CIE), [1] Multimedia University from 2000-2006. His research includes 3D Animation, computer-aided learning,[2] multimedia and Virtual Reality. He has published more than 60 internationally multi-disciplinary refereed conference papers, journal articles and books. He also contributes in several local and international reviewing committees including guest editor for Automation in Construction International Research Journal, editor for the International Journal of OHI, Journal of Educational Technology & Society, CAADRIA (Asia & Australasia), eCAADe (Europe), CAAD Futures, G-CAD (USA), CyberGames International Conference (Australia), international review panel of research for King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (Saudi Arabia), Malaysian Venture Capital (MAVCAP) (Malaysia), Multimedia Grant Scheme (MGS) (Malaysia) [3] and to name a few.
He has pioneered [4] into the development of Bachelor and Master of Multimedia Degree Programmes in the country targeted for producing world-class ‘content developers’ in the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), Malaysia over the last 10 years.
Among the few projects he is currently working at this moment, most notables are
- Heritage preservation in virtual environment using realistic lighting computation, a project funded by MOSTI.
- Building 3d campuses for Google earth
