Elliot G. Sander

Elliot "Lee" Sander is the current Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York. The authority runs two commuter railroads (the Long Island Rail Road and the Metro-North Railroad), the Subway and public bus lines of New York City and Nassau County, the New York City Transit Authority and MTA Long Island Bus, and the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority which maintains New York City's major bridges. In total, he is responsible for a budget of over $9 billion annually. Sander graduated from Jamaica High School in Queens in 1973. He attended Georgetown University and planned a career in foreign relations. Prior to accepting his position at the MTA, Sander worked at DMJM Harris.
