Elliot "Lee" Sander is the current Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of
New York . The authority runs twocommuter railroad s (theLong Island Rail Road and theMetro-North Railroad ), the Subway and public bus lines ofNew York City and Nassau County, theNew York City Transit Authority andMTA Long Island Bus , and theTriborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority which maintainsNew York City 's major bridges. In total, he is responsible for a budget of over $9 billion annually.
