Cacilda Borges Barbosa

Cacilda Borges Barbosa (born May 18, 1914) is Brazilian conductor and composer, Barbosa was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and graduated from the National School of Music of Brazil, whilst there, Barbosa was a student of Antônio Francisco Braga

Barbose worked with Heitor Villa-Lobos from 1930 and composed a number of works, many with a strong Brazilian theme. She also composed a number of pieces of orchestral music and chamber music together with pieces for teaching piano students, material comparable to Béla Bartóks Mikrokosmos.
