He mostly coachedFC Nantes where he created the "jeu à la nantaise", a tactic based on speed, technique, intelligence and one touch. He also coachedFrance national football team along withJean Snella after theFIFA World Cup 1966 .Biography
At the age of 14, he left
Spain forFrance because of theSpanish Civil War and landed inNantes . Fond of football, he signed a professional contract with US Le Mans of Division 2. In 1952, he became a coach and trained amateur sides ofUS Saint-Malo andNoyen-sur-Sarthe , before being called up byFC Nantes , where he won the Division 1 titles in 1965, 1966 and 1973. In 1966, he coached for four matchesFrance national football team withJean Snella . He left the club in 1976, and ended his career coachingOlympique de Marseille andLille OSC .Titles
