Anti-actin antibodies

Anti-actin antibodies

Anti-actin antibodies are found at increased frequency in certain autoimmune diseases and may be of some diagnostic value.

In coeliac disease anti-actin antibodies correlated with the level of intestinal damage. cite journal | author = Pedreira S, Sugai E, Moreno ML, "et al" | title = Significance of smooth muscle/anti-actin autoantibodies in celiac disease | journal = Acta Gastroenterol. Latinoam. | volume = 35 | issue = 2 | pages = 83–93 | year = 2005 | pmid = 16127984 | doi = ] cite journal | author = Carroccio A, Brusca I, Iacono G, "et al" | title = IgA anti-actin antibodies ELISA in coeliac disease: A multicentre study | journal = | volume = | issue = | pages = | year = 2007 | pmid = 17652043 | doi = 10.1016/j.dld.2007.06.004]

In autoimmune hepatitis anti-actin antibodies correlate with patterns of immune recognitioncite journal | author = Muratori P, Muratori L, Agostinelli D, "et al" | title = Smooth muscle antibodies and type 1 autoimmune hepatitis | journal = Autoimmunity | volume = 35 | issue = 8 | pages = 497–500 | year = 2002 | pmid = 12765475 | doi = ] , the pattern of recognition was specific to a small percentage of auto-immune hepatitis type 1 or cryptogenic hepatitis patients.cite journal | author = Ballot E, Homberg JC, Johanet C | title = Antibodies to soluble liver antigen: an additional marker in type 1 auto-immune hepatitis | journal = J. Hepatol. | volume = 33 | issue = 2 | pages = 208–15 | year = 2000 | pmid = 10952238 | doi = ]

in gastric cancer anti-actin antibodies were elevated, along with other antibodiesin severe disease with poor outcomes.cite journal | author = Konstandoulakis MM, Syrigos KN, Leandros M, Charalabopoulos A, Manouras A, Golematis BC | title = Autoantibodies in the serum of patients with gastric cancer: their prognostic importance | journal = Hybridoma | volume = 17 | issue = 5 | pages = 431–5 | year = 1998 | pmid = 9873988 | doi = ]
