Scenic Rim Regional Council is a Local Government Area in Queensland, Australia. The Local Government Area was created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. The new Council, located in South East Queensland, contains the entire area of the Shire of Boonah, the southern rural part of Shire of Beaudesert and the Harrisville/Peak Crossing areas of City of Ipswich.
The report recommended that the new local government area should not be divided into wards and elect six councillors and a mayor. The Scenic Rim Regional Council will cover an area convert|4256|km2|sqmi|0|lk=on, contain an estimated resident population in 2006 of 34,659 and have an estimated operating budget of AUD33m. The report also recommended the new local government area be called "Beaudesert Regional Council".Legislation introduced into the Queensland Parliament gave the name of the new council as Scenic Rim Regional Council.[cite web]
