The Frankfurt School of Finance & Management is a private university in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). It is accredited by the German state as well as the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA).

History

The Frankfurt School of Finance & Management was founded 1957 as " _de. Bankakademie" (Banking Institute). The university was founded in 1989 as the " _de. Hochschule für Bankwirtschaft" ("HfB") and was given authorization to award doctoral degrees on 3 November 2004. On 17 January 2007 the academic-branch "HfB" and the executive education-branch " _de. Bankakademie e. V." were merged under the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. The FS has full degree awarding power and is state recognized.

Currently there are approx. 900 students and 28 full-time professors as well as more than 1.800 lecturers.

The Frankfurt School of Finance & Management offers international bachelor and master programs with specializations in finance, management and accounting. The Ph.D. program started in Fall 2005.

Chronology

The Frankfurt School of Finance & Management looks back on decades of success and is now one the leading universities in Germany.
* 1957: "Bankakademie" founded by Gabler publishing house in Wiesbaden and began setting new standards in executive education for the financial services industry
* 1966: "Bankakademie" re-founded as an association, its members the regional associations of private banks and the credit union association
* End of the 1970s: General Management program added to the executive education course offering
* 1990: HfB, the academic arm of the "Bankakademie" founded
* 1994: First 35 graduates of the "diploma" program (equivalent to a master's degree)
* 2000: One of the first German universities to adopt the bachelor/master degree system (see Bologna process)
* 2001: Opening of the new campus in Frankfurt's Ostend
* 2003: First graduates of master's program
* 2004: HfB named "Wissenschaftliche Hochschule" (authorization to award doctoral degrees)
* 2007: 50 year anniversary, all education and consulting services consolidated under the name Frankfurt School of Finance & Management

Alumni

Famous Graduates

In the last 50 years over 100 000 students have graduated from the "Bankakademie", "HfB" and Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. Many of then hold important position in German and international companies, especially in Frankfurt's banks and near-banks.

Since up to now there is no alumni club for the newly consolidated Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, alumni are organized in two separate organizations:
