The following is a list of most intense tropical cyclones, subdivided by basins. The strongest tropical cyclone recorded worldwide, as measured by minimum central pressure, was Typhoon Tip, which reached a pressure of 870 mbar (hPa) (25.69inHg) on October 12, 1979.[cite web|author=George M.
