Lockyer Valley Regional Council is a Local Government Area in the Australian state of Queensland. The Local Government Area was created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. The new Council, located in the Lockyer Valley region of South East Queensland, contains the entire area of two existing Local Government Areas;
*Shire of Gatton; and
*Shire of Laidley
The report recommended that the new local government area should not be divided into wards and elect eight councillors and a mayor. The Lockyer Valley Regional Council covers an area of convert|2273|km2|sqmi|0|lk=on, containing an estimated resident population in 2006 of 31,138 and having an estimated operating budget of AUD35m.
The Regional Council covers the towns of Forest Hill, Gatton, Glenore Grove, Grantham, Helidon, Laidley, Lockrose, Mulgowie, Murphys Creek, Plainland and Withcott.
