Mark Fernyhough

Mark Fernyhough (born 1983) is a singer/songwriter, writer, dj and model.

Mark was born in Stafford, England and currently resides between London and Berlin. In 2006 Mark undertook a solo musical career, which initially saw him pursue an acoustic sound, although his recent work has at times moved drastically away from this. Mark's first collection of solo songs [http://www.neilleyton.com/discography.html] was produced by Neil Leyton [http://www.neilleyton.com] in a West London studio. In late 2006 his song Black Birds received airplay on BBC radio and was released internationally through the Fading Ways record label. Mark ended the year by performing a sold out Christmas show at The Buffalo Bar in London. 2007 saw him receive even greater radio airplay, and in June he played a live BBC radio session debuting the song 'all the wrong words'. During the session, he discussed his work and recent relocation to Berlin.

Additionally to performing his music live, Mark regularly makes guest dj appearances with the critically acclaimed photographer Heike Schneider-Matzigkeit [http://www.thyshell.com] under the moniker 'A Matter of Civilization'. These have taken place at London clubs such as Trash, White Heat, Hanky Panky and Club NME. In Berlin, Mark has djed at Eel Pie, Death By Pop and the Bang Bang Club in Mitte.

Mark Fernyhough's writing is prolifically published in UK based publications Nude Magazine [http://www.nudemagazine.co.uk] , The Stool Pigeon [http://www.thestoolpigeon.com] and NME.

Mark's social circle is frequented by notable artists and musicians. He has been photographed with Suede's Brett Anderson, Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie, Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon, Chris Corner, Adam Green, Stereo Total and Gary Numan. Echo and the Bunnymen's outspoken frontman Ian McCulloch was also quoted as declaring him 'a dandy geezer'.

In August 2007 Mark played the male lead alongside Supermodel Anouck Lepere at a major magazine photo shoot in Hamburg.

In October 2007 Mark penned a much quoted critique of Amy Winehouse's Berlin comeback show [http://www.nme.com/reviews/amy-winehouse/9168] , the story was featured on the cover of NME.
