Mackay Regional Council is a Local Government Area in
Central Queensland ,Australia . The Local Government Area was created in March 2008 as a result Local Government Reform implimented by theQueensland Government . The new Council is an amalgamation of the former Local Government Areas of Mackay, Marani and Sarina.The new local government area is not divided into wards, elected in March 2008 elections were ten councillors and a
mayor . The Mackay Regional Council covers an area of convert|7621|km2|sqmi|0|lk=on, and contained an estimated resident population in 2006 of 100,260. It has an estimated operating budget of $118m.The mayor of the council is Col Meng and the deputy mayor is Darryl Camilleri. Other councillors include Di Hatfield, George Christensen, Deirdre Comerford, Dave Perkins, Kevin Casey, Karen May, Paul Steindl, Wendy Cameron and Greg Thomsen.
Within the Regional Council is the city of Mackay and the towns of Dalrymple Bay, Eungella, Finch Hatton, Gargett, Hay Point, Koumala, Marian, Mirani, North Eton, Pinnacle and Sarina.
