The Heart-spotted Woodpecker ("Hemicircus canente") is a species of bird in the Picidae family.It is found in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Habitat

Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Description

A small, uniquely shapped, black and buff woodpecker with large, prominently recurved crest on head and very short tail. Basically black with heart-shaped black spots on white shoulders and broad white scapular patches and barring of flight feathers. Whitish throat and plain grey underparts. Female has white forecrown.
