Ridgebury, New York is one of the eight Hamlets in the town of
Wawayanda, New York . The hamlet and its township are located inOrange County, New York , approximately 65 miles north of New York City. Ridgebury is a part of theWashington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route , a series of campsites, paths and meeting sites shared between the American Revolutionary War era colonial troops and the French Army. Ridgebury Road was used by colonial troops as a path to a campsite in Bedford on their way to meeting with the French. The Colonial and French collaboration would ultimately result in the surrender of BritishGeneral Charles Cornwallis in Yorktown, VA, thus ending the American Revolution.
