El Portal Center is a regional convert|385000|sqft|m2|sing=on indoor mall located in the north Rio Grande bank in downtown Laredo, Texas [ [http://airwolf.lmtonline.com/news/archive/092403/pagea1.pdf Laredo Morning Times El Portal Project Article] ] . It was previously known as the River Drive Mall until 2003 when Morgan Stern Realty bought it and started renovating it. The mall is currently closed due to renovations that are being carried out. Their main emphasis are outlets stores, restaurants, and entertainment. The River Drive Mall was succeeded by Mall Del Norte in the late 1980s as the main mall in the city.
