Catlettsburg Refinery

The Catlettsburg Refinery is the 29th largest American oil refinery. It is located in extreme northeastern Kentucky, near the town of Catlettsburg, Kentucky and near the city of Huntington, West Virginia. The facility was built in 1922 by the Ashland Refining Company. The refinery now occupies a 650 plus acre site, producing more than convert|247000|oilbbl/d|m3/d, and employing more than 900 employees. On average it produces 2% of the US oil supply daily.

It is now owned and operated by the Marathon Petroleum Company. Due in part to the refinery, the Huntington-Ashland Port is the largest inland port in the United States
