7225UP Vijayawada - Hubli Amaravati Express 7226DN Hubli - Vijayawada Amaravati Express

Running tri-weekly and is organized by Bezwada(Vijayawada) division of South Central Railways(SCR).

8047UP Howrah - Vasco-Da-Gamma Amaravati Express 8048DN Vasco-Da-gamma - Howrah Amaravati Express

Operational on 4 days of Week Via, Vijayawada, Guntakal,Hubli,Madgaon. This train is now organized by South Eastern Railways(SER), Kharagpur] Division.

This train links East end of India to West India and vice versa.

In fact Amaravati Express between Vijayawada and Vasco-Da-Gama("7228 Vasco-Da-Gama - Vijayawada" and "7227 Vijayawada -Vasco-Da-Gama" , tri-weekly express was extended to Howrah as 4 days a week and upgraded to Super Fast under Laloo prasad Regime.

Facts About Amaravati Express

1). Amaravati Express is the most popular train among Andhra People especially for those who live in Guntur, Narsaraopet,Giddaluru,Nandyal, Mahanandi, Guntakal and Bellary Region.

2). This train is also one of the oldest trains introduced during 50's as Meter Gauge Train between Guntur and Hubli. Due to the gauge conversion activities took place in the mid of 80s-90s, the train was organized in parts and fully restored in 1997.

3). The train was further extended to Vijayawada in the middle of 1999.

4). This train runs on the Historical Railway track of

Machilipatnam -Mormugao - Machilipatnam Track.5). During the End of 1999 and beginning of 2000, the train was extended to Londa Junction, Castle Rock and eventually to Vasco-Da-Gama as the Gauge conversion progressed.

6). The train was finally commissioned between Vasco-Da-Gama and Vijayawada as a daily train in the mid of 2000 AD. But due to poor response from passengers, the frequency reduced to bi-weekly as 7227/7228 Vasco-Vijayawada Amaravathi Express and for the remaining 5 days the train was terminated at Hubli.

7). In the beginning of 2003 the frequency increased by One day. Finally 7225/7226 Vijayawada- Hubli Amaravati Express 4 Days 7227/7228 Vijayawada-Vasco Amaravati Express 3 Days.

8). During the mongh of June-July 2007, The train is further Extended to Howrah by replacing 7227/7228 Amaravati between Vijayawada and Vasco. The IR numbering system was 2847UP HWH VSG Express and 2848DN VSG HWH Express. "But in the Railway budget year of 2008, the train was degraded to Express Status from a Super Fast Status".

Origin of Name

The train named after the historical Capital city of Satavahana Dynasty, Amaravati in the present day Guntur District. Amaravati is also known as Sanchi of South India.

7225/7226 Amaravati Express uses WDM3A Diesel Loco Power of Gooty Shed of SCR of Guntakal Division on its way from Vijayawada to Hubli to Vijayawada.

2847/2848 Amaravati Express, on the other hand uses both Electric and Diesel power on its way.

Howrah to Guntur - WAP4 Santragachi(IR Code:SRC) of S.E.Railways

Guntur to Vasco-Da-Gama WDM3A of Gooty(IR Code:-GY)/Guntakal(IR code:GTL) of S.C.Railways.

Recent days WDP4 Diesel Loco of Hubli Diesel Shed is used instead of MUed Gooty WDM3A locos.

The train bears the same loco link on its return itenary.

Some times WAM4 of Vijayawada Electric Loco shed also hauls the same train from Guntur to Howrah and vice versa.
