The 1974 Stanley Cup Finals were played from May 7 to May 19, 1974 between the Boston Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers, making their first Finals appearance. The Flyers would win the best-of-seven series four games to two.

Paths to the Final

Boston defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4–0 and the Chicago Black Hawks 4–2 to advance to the finals. Philadelphia defeated the Atlanta Flames 4–0 and the New York Rangers 4–3 to make it to the finals.

The series

In the previous 19 games against the Bruins in Boston, the Flyers had lost 17 and tied two. Boston had home advantage also. The Bruins were made heavy favorites. Boston won the first game at home, but Philadelphia would finally win at the Boston Garden in game two. Bernie Parent shut down Boston, limiting them to three goals in Games 3, 4, and 6, including a shutout in game six. Parent was named the playoff MVP.
