Biography
Born in Carinthia, Austria, Werba began his vocal training aged 16. He studied at the Conservatory of Klagenfurt and University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna with Walter Berry. He has won numerous competitions for his singing in Austria, Italy, Japan and Slovenia. He was chosen as Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) for the inauguration of the Piccolo theater, Milan by Giorgio Strehler.
Between 1998 and 2000 Werba was an ensemble member at the Vienna Volksoper where he sang a wide range of roles including Vincenz (Der fidele Bauer), Mintschi (Ein Walzertraum), Count Boni Kancsianu (Die Csárdásfürstin), Papageno (The Magic Flute), Falke (Die Fledermaus), Pappadoca (Eine Nacht in Venedig), Malatesta (Don Pasquale), Dandini (La Cenerentola), and Danilo in (Die lustige Witwe).
In 2005, Werba made his Salzburg Festival début as Papageno (The Magic Flute). He made his début at La Scala in 2006, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in 2008, the Metropolitan Opera in 2010 as Harlekin(Ariadne auf Naxos).
In 2010 September, he made his Vienna State Opera début as Papageno (The Magic Flute).[2]
He is also in demand on the concert and recital platform having given recitals in Trieste, Wigmore Hall, in the Musikverein, Vienna, St Martin in the Fields, Mozarteum Salzburg, Suntory Hall Tokyo.
