The Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater ("Acanthagenys rufogularis") is the only species in the genus "Acanthegenys." The honeyeater is mainly frugivorous, but will also eat nectar, blossoms, insects, reptiles, and baby birds. Its habitat includes deserts, coastal scrubland, and dry woodlands .
