USS "Eager" (AM-224) was an "Admirable"-class minesweeper built for the
U.S. Navy duringWorld War II . She was built to clear minefields in offshore waters, and served the Navy in thePacific Ocean . Post-war she returned home proudly with onebattle star to her credit.She was launched

"Eager" sailed through the Saint Lawrence to outfit at
Boston, Massachusetts , and train off theVirginia Capes . She arrived atNew London, Connecticut ,15 March 1945 , to join the Italiansubmarine Dandolo which she escorted toGuantánamo Bay , then continued toSan Diego, California , arriving7 April . Underway23 April , "Eager" called atPearl Harbor ,Eniwetok ,Guam , andSaipan and arrived atOkinawa 10 June escorting a convoy. She escorted ships and patrolled off Okinawa until the war's end, then swept a channel intoJinsen as an avenue for occupation ofKorea . She entered Sasebo10 September for sweeping operations, which included the novel role of supervising Japanese minesweepers.Post-War Decommissioning
"Eager" went home to rest,
28 December 1945 , arriving atSan Pedro, California ,8 February , and went out of commission into reserve27 September 1946 . She was reclassified MSF-224 on7 February 1955 . "Eager" was stricken1 May 1962 and, on2 October that year, transferred toMexico where she served as DM-06.Battle Stars
