USS "Alchemy" (AM-141) was an built for the
U.S. Navy duringWorld War II . She was built to clear minefields in offshore waters, and was given to theSoviets under thelend-lease program.She was laid down on
8 June 1942 atTampa, Florida , by theTampa Shipbuilding Co.; sponsored by Mrs. W. E. Edgarton; and completed on11 August 1943 .Transfer to the Soviet Union
On the same day that she was completed, "Alchemy" was turned over to the
Soviet Navy under the terms of the lend-lease program. She served the Soviets as "T-114", until she wastorpedo ed and sunk13 August 1944 in theKara Sea by the Germansubmarine "U-365".Disposition
"Alchemy" was carried on the American Navy List as MSF-141 after
7 February 1955 , until struck on1 January 1983 .References
