binomial_authority = (Waltl, 1832)The foreign grain beetle is a rather small beetle, approximately 2 mm (frac|1|12 in) in length. They come in early summer to late fall. The only thing they eat are things that are moldy or have fungi. They usually appear near bathtubs sinks or any moist area. They come from the walls near pipes. They are a reddish brownish color (occasionally black).

They are harmless bugs they come in homes in large numbers infesting moldy products and dry food. Females lay up to 500 eggs at a time in walls. People usually confuse them with ticks, fruit flies and fleas. They are very similar to the saw-toothed grain beetle but they are two different species. The best way to control them is to vacuum your house at least three times a week.
