Graeagle is a census-designated place (CDP) in Plumas County, California, United States. The population was 831 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Graeagle is located at coor dms|39|45|52|N|120|37|24|W|city (39.764319, -120.623262)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 11.2 square miles (28.9 km²), of which, 11.1 square miles (28.8 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (0.54%) is water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 831 people, 412 households, and 280 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 74.8 people per square mile (28.9/km²). There were 693 housing units at an average density of 62.4/sq mi (24.1/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 97.95% White, 0.48% Native American, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 1.32% from two or more races. 2.17% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 412 households out of which 13.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.9% were married couples living together, 3.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.0% were non-families. 26.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.02 and the average family size was 2.40.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 11.6% under the age of 18, 2.8% from 18 to 24, 15.9% from 25 to 44, 35.1% from 45 to 64, and 34.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 57 years. For every 100 females there were 90.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.4 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $55,385, and the median income for a family was $59,327. Males had a median income of $39,219 versus $24,028 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $25,199. About 4.7% of families and 5.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including none of those under age 18 and 12.1% of those age 65 or over.

Politics

In the state legislature Graegle is located in the 1st Senate District, represented by Republican Dave Cox, and in the 3rd Assembly District, represented by Republican Rick Keene.
