Souq.com

The name souq in Arabic means: the commercial quarter in a city and also refers to the specialized markets where goods are exchanged. Souq.com is a member of the Maktoob group of companies, Maktoob.com the biggest Arab online community in the world. Souq.com is operating in United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Jordan and is currently launching its operations in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Souq.com launched a test site in Jordan in Q1 of 2005 and later it officially launched in the UAE in Q4 of 2005. A dedicated focus on its community, safety, trust and accountability has enabled Souq to quickly become the leading auction & marketplace website in the Arab world.

Souq.com works in a similar way to many of the leading auction platforms, but with the addition of essential localized services that address the Arab internet user and online shopping behavior. Souq.com offers its users both an auction platform as well a fixed-price selling format. Also, Souq.com has integrated mobile services (GSM) that provide users updates on all aspects of their auction transactions.

To enhance the trust and conversion of traded goods, Souq coupled its platform with an escrow service that offers numerous secure and safe payment options, such as credit card, Prepaid online shopping cards, online banking as well as a ‘Cash on Delivery’ service through integrated delivery services and partners.
