MetaBase

MetaBase

MetaBase is a user-contributed database of biological databases, listing all the biological databases currently available on the internet. The initial release of MetaBase was derived entirely from the content of the Nucleic Acids Research (NAR) 2007 Database Issue. MetaBase is a wiki, using MediaWiki software as well as the Semantic MediaWiki extension.

MetaBase was developed as part of the BioWiki initiative, and was entered into the first International Openfree Bioinformation Contents Competition organised by BiO.CC, the top-level biological information web site operated by Genome Research Foundation.

Currently MetaBase contains details about nearly 1000 biological databases and over 800 'web services' derived from NAR, as well as more than 50 'user-contributed' databases.
