Mandy Grace Capristo (born March 21, 1990 in Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany) is a German singer who rose to fame as one of the founding members of the pop group Monrose. She was the only blonde girl in the group and was also the "strong voice" of Monrose as she sang almost all of the high notes in their songs. She was the youngest member of the group.

Biography

Early life

Mandy Capristo was born to an Italian father and an German mother, she grew up in Bürstadt. At the age of 9 she began dancing and video clip dancing.^{[citation needed]}

As an 11 year old girl, Capristo won ORF/Super RTL's Kiddy Contest 2001 with the song "Ich wünsche mir einen Bankomat" a German cover of No Angels' "Daylight in Your Eyes". In 2002, she appeared on the album Kiddy Contest, Vol. 8 with the songs "Moskito". The album reached number one in the Austrian album charts.^[1]

Career

Monrose

In 2006, at 16 years old, Mandy Capristo joined the German band Popstars from ProSieben. At the finale the audience had chosen Capristo as final member to group Monrose.^[2]

Capristo is one of the three winners from the 5th season of Popstars and is a member of the resulting group Monrose, together with Senna Guemmour and Bahar Kızıl. The group's debut single "Shame" peaked at number one on the German Singles Chart. It became one of the best-selling singles of the year, resulting into a sales total of 200,000 copies Europe-wide. The group released their debut album Temptation in December 2006, which debuted the charts at number one and was certified two times platinum by Media Control Charts.

In 2007, Capristo was ranked on FHM's "100 Sexiest Women in the World" as tenth place.^[3] In 2009 she was voted sexiest woman in the world by the readers of the German FHM magazine.

In November 25, 2010, Monrose announced they will separate ways and focus of their solo projects.^[4]

2010-present: Debut album

After the disbanding of Monrose Capristo confirmed in an interview that she already started the recording sessions for her first debut album in November 2010. In May 2011 she performed two songs of her first album. One track is called "Be You", it will be the B-Side of her first single and it was written for the Be-Yu Cosmetics. The other song is called "Overrated" which will also appear on the album.^[5]
