Ö3 Austria Top 40 is the name of the official Austrian singles chart, as well as the radio show which presents it, aired Fridays on Hitradio Ö3. The show presents the Austrian singles, ringtones and downloads chart. It premiered on 26 November 1968 as Disc Parade and was presented by Ernst Grissemann. The show has had other names and other presenters, as detailed below.
The weekly number-ones are released by Musikmarkt and go tv.
Online versions of the chart at charts.orf.at and austriancharts.at have 75 positions, despite charts.orf.at still labeling itself as "Ö3 Austria Top 40".

Chart statistics
The first number-one single was "Das ist die Frage aller Fragen" by Cliff Richard. The most successful single is "Candle in the Wind 1997" by Elton John. The most successful Austrian single is "Anton aus Tirol" by DJ Ötzi, the song which could stay among the Top 75 for the longest time. The artists with the most number-one hits since 1980 are Rainhard Fendrich and Christina Stürmer.
