Vertical Mattress is a suture technique most commonly used in areas like the palm of the hand to provide support to the skin edges from inverting it has a far-far-near-near order of bites. The knot will is perpendicular adjacent to the wound edge.This type of suture is good for deep lacerations, instead of combining two layers of deep and superficial sutures. It can help bring the deep layers together, and is often effective with a few vertical mattress to approximate tissue and then finished with simple interrupted or running.
