Roslyn Heights , NY. The playhouse was previously located at 714 Old Bethpage Road in nearbyOld Bethpage , NY and moved to its new location in early 2008 after thirteen years in Old Bethpage.Cultural Arts Playhouse was founded in 1995 by Bruce Grossman. Named by the
Long Island Press as Long Island's best live theatre, 2007, the playhouse is a year-round regional off-off Broadway theatre that has produced over 250 productions including educational and touring shows. The theatre serves more than 20,000 people each year with its professional Mainstage productions which have included titles such as "Grease",42nd Street ,Annie andThe Sound of Music , Children's Theatre shows such asThe Wizard of Oz ,101 Dalmatians andHonk! and theatre education classes for ages 7-18. The classes stage shows under their Young People's Theatre (YPT) banner, featuring students in the roles. With the theatre's 2008 move to Plainview, a Second Stage program, featuring smaller musicals and plays, has been added to their season. CAP also produces shows in affiliation with theLong Island Children's Museum inGarden City, NY . Recent CAP/LICM productions have includedHigh School Musical andSeussical .Along with its Musical Theatre and Acting Academy (MTAA) and Young People's Theatre (YPT), more than 2000 students have had the opportunity to learn from some of the finest instructors in the New York area. With the over 150 years of the combined experience of its staff, many of CAP's students have been able to use their CAP experience and talents to do professional theatre, recordings, television and film.
