Two-player

Two-player

A two-player game is a game played by just two players. This is distinct from a multiplayer which is played by more than two players, [cite book|title=Oxford English Dictionary|quote=Designed for or involving more than two (esp. many) players or participants|publisher=Oxford University Press|year=2008] and from a single-player game, in which the player has no human opponents.

In video games, the nature of the two-player mode varies depending on the game. Two-player mode can have players cooperating in a team as in "Final Fight", competing against one another as in "Mortal Kombat", or playing independently like Mario (Player 1) and Luigi (Player 2) in "Super Mario Bros."

Examples of two-player games include:

* Cue sports, a family of cue stick-and-billiard balls games
* Video games, such as "Command HQ"
* Chess, a classic board game
* Cribbage, a card game
* "", a collectible card game in which players duel
* Wargames, such as "Hammer of the Scots"
