United States presidential election in Illinois, 2004
- United States presidential election in Illinois, 2004
Illinois voted for Senator Kerry in the 2004 election. Senator Kerry's victory in Illinois was primarily due to the Democratic stronghold of the Chicago area's Cook County, where about 43% of Illinois' population resides. In the remaining 57% of the state, Bush won 54.6% (1,749,203) to 45.3% (1,452,265), though his margin of victory in traditionally Republican strongholds such as DuPage County and Lake County was narrower than this.
