Between January to May 1998 the "KTT" cars provided service between Hung Hom and Lo Wu stations. After the whole route was electrified, the KTT serves non-stop between
Hung Hom Station andGuangzhou East railway station . Although the train model has a top speed of convert|240|km/h|mph|0|abbr=on, KTT only runs at a maximum speed of convert|160|km/h|mph|0|abbr=on. Under normal demand, KTT has seven compartments (five first-class compartments and two executive-class compartments).
