Estació de la Sagrera

Estació de la Sagrera

:"This article uses the official Catalan name of the station to avoid ambiguity. For a similarly named metro and train station, check Intercanviador de Sagrera-Meridiana, previously known under this name."

Estació de la Sagrera ("Sagrera station") is a major transport hub in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain currently under construction. It will be a train and Barcelona Metro station that will serve the north of the city, with services including AVE high-speed rail as well as regular international, regional and commuter trains of Rodalies Barcelona. It is located in the Sagrera neighbourhood, in the Sant Andreu district of Barcelona. The main architect in charge of the project is Frank Gehry [http://www.elpais.com/articulo/cataluna/Frank/Gehry/firma/contrato/disenar/estacion/Sagrera/elpepuespcat/20070426elpcat_22/Tes ElPaís article>]

It will be one out of two AVE stations in Barcelona, with Estació de Sants in the south, and Sagrera in the north. It is currently under construction with funds from the Spanish Ministry of Public Works, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Barcelona City Council. A transformation of the area will take place as well, as it is made up of large industrial surfaces, some of which are no longer used. Its name is sometimes displayed as Sagrera-Tav to avoid confusion (see Sagrera-Meridiana). "Tav" is short for "Tren d'alta velocitat" ("high-speed train").

It will be served by Barcelona Metro line L4 and in a few years, also by L9/L10.
