USS Cockatoo (AMc-8)

The USS Cockatoo was a coastal minesweeper: built in 1936 as Vashon by the Seattle Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co., Seattle, Washington; acquired by the U.S. Navy 23 October 1940; commissioned USS Cockatoo (AMc-8), 25 April 1941.

World War II Pacific Ocean Service

The USS Cockatoo (AMc-8) was placed in service 25 April 1941 and operated in the 14th Naval District from Pearl Harbor throughout the war.

Decommissioning

USS Cockatoo was transferred to the Maritime Commission 23 September 1946.
