Isidore de Lara, born Isidore Cohen (
August 9 ,1858 -August 2 ,1935 ), was a composer of art songs and operas.He was born in
London and his early operas were produced at Covent Garden. His later works (of which the most famous was "Messaline", which inspired anHenri de Toulouse-Lautrec painting), were produced atMonte Carlo , where he met, and later became a close friend of Princess Alice of Monaco.He died on
August 2 ,1935 , inParis .His operas include:
