The Professional Fraternity Council at
Binghamton University is a student run organization that serves as the governing body for pre-professionalfraternities and sororities on the Binghamton University campus. The Professional Fraternity Council (PFC) is currently made up of seven professional fraternities and has helped Binghamton University students in striving to achieve their professional goals and to better their social environment in college.The Binghamton Professional Fraternity Council is part of the Student Association since it is a student chartered and student run organization. The Professional Fraternity Council at BU is currently made up of the following fraternities:
Delta Sigma Pi (business),Phi Alpha Delta (pre-law), Phi Delta Epsilon (pre-med),Alpha Phi Omega (community service),Alpha Kappa Psi (business),Theta Tau (engineering) andDelta Epsilon Mu (pre-health).The PFC has also witnessed expansion over the years since Binghamton Greek life has also expanded. BU Greek life covers almost 1 in every 5 students and is an essential part of student life on campus. The original core of the PFC was made up of all of the above mentioned fraternities with the exception of Delta Epsilon Mu (pre-health) which became a part of the PFC in Spring 2007.
Binghamton's Professional Fraternity Council is witnessing a great expansion as it enters the fall of 2007. Two new fraternities will be added to the Council which includes:
Alpha Kappa Psi (business) andAlpha Omega Epsilon (engineering sorority).The PFC was charted on the BU campus prior to the year 2004 and past presidents of the organization have included Jason Paer and Marianito Mabutas. The current president of the Professional Fraternity Council is Daniel Levin.
The Professional Fraternity Council is made up of a five person executive board. The executive board positions are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Events Coordinator. The Council is also made up of two delegates from each fraternity member. The delegates are responsible for updating their own fraternity or sorority on any decisions, events and related matters regarding the PFC.
The PFC has had many successful events and plays a large role in campus life for students. Representatives of the PFC can be seen at Binghamton's University Fest and its Student Group Showcase Fair. Other events that the PFC has been involved in has included picnics, sporting events, professional events about law, medicine, health, and business. In addition the PFC has had numerous social gatherings for its members. Altogether, the Council is made up of 300 Binghamton students.
