Mid-American Greek Council Association

The Mid-American Greek Council Association exists to stimulate the growth and development of college Fraternity/Sorority Councils by promoting leadership and educational experiences for student leaders at colleges and universities. The annual leadership conference, newsletters, and other educational resources to member schools and the general public are the basis of the Association's current educational services.

MGCA is an organization consisting of member Interfraternity (NIC), National Pan-Hellenic (NPHC), Panhellenic (NPC), Latino (NALFO), Multicultural, and Greek Councils, at both public and private institutions.

The largest service of the Association comes in the form of the conferences. Each February the Association hosts a conference in Chicago, IL. Programming includes position-specific information for Greek governing councils, chapters, advisors, and graduate students. Also included is specific information about current events and issues that impact the Greek community on campus. Nearly 2,000 participants come together creating the ideal setting for networking and idea sharing.

Each summer the Association hosts a conference for professional House Directors. This conference provides an educational forum to enhance the leadership and professional skills of sorority and fraternity chapter House Directors.

Through the use of electronic media (email and the web), the Association strives to provide its members with current resources and information that impacts Greek communities on campus. The on-line newsletter, resource handouts, and Best Practices List are a few examples of these resources.

The Awards program serves to enhance the goal setting and visioning process for Greek governing councils. Participation in this program provides a comprehensive overview of the council’s strengths and weaknesses, a historical record of programs and achievements, and most importantly, individual consulting from expert judges at the annual conference.

The Association website is www.mgca.org.
