Roger Tilling is avoiceover and broadcaster with a long and varied career in television and radio.Biography
Roger began his broadcasting career in local radio. He worked at
Chiltern Radio andSuperGold in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and Oasis Radio in Hertfordshire (laterMercury 96.6 ) in 1995. He then moved into television working as a continuity announcer for Westcountry Television (theITV region in the South West of England in 1996). In 1997 he joinedGranada Television as a continuity and promo voiceover. From 1998, he apparently worked as a continuity and trailer voiceover atYorkshire Television , Granada,Tyne Tees and Border Television in the same period, as well as a highly regular on-air voice ofLWT in London at the weekends from 1998-2002 and then for nationalITV after the amalgamation of the ITV regions to London.Whilst at
Granada Television , he became a temporary announcer of "University Challenge " for the 1997 series, and then returned permanently in 2001 and has remained the voice of the programme to date. His voice is often heard on many shows that recall the lowest ever total of points scored by any University team in the history of the programme back in 1997 (35 points), and an even lower one by the House Of Commons when their team in 2003 scored only 25 points.Apart from popping up on radio and TV commercials with the likes of
John Motson andAlan Whicker , he emerged on Granada Sky Broadcasting in 1999, before becoming the voice ofThe Hallmark Channel in 2001 andmovies24 in 2006.Roger has also been the voice of other game shows on various channels, including the 80-episode series of "
Family Fortunes " aired from 2002 to 2003.He holds a degree in
Aeronautical Engineering and is a qualifiedprivate pilot . Roger lives in London and remains busy as a voiceover in television, documentaries, radio and the corporate business.External links
