language =American English CNN Airport Network is a satellite
television network broadcasting general news, weather ,stock market updates and features to airports acrossNorth America . The network debuted onJanuary 20 ,1992 [ [http://www.turner.com/about/tabs_red.html Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. website] , accessedMay 31 ,2006 .] , and is currently shown in 43 airports around the world, more airports added later when announced, on televisions located in gate and boarding areas. It uses footage from the main
CNN network andHeadline News as programming. However, it inserts more weather and travel segments, such as airport delays, into its programming than the other CNN networks.Due to an agreement with the
Federal Aviation Administration , it is transmitted on a delay and routinely removes CNN stories relating to airplane crashes, aviation controversies, and unconfirmed airport security incidents. During the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the network essentially went off the air, only showing text directing viewers to other news sources. According to its 2007 media guide, "CNN Airport Network broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with round-the-clock technical and editorial staffing. Because we broadcast in public waiting areas CNN Airport Network will not air graphic video coverage of commercial air accidents or incidents, unless the incident involves a national emergency or threat to security. CNN Airport Network also screens out material that is either sexually explicit or portrays graphic violence." [ [http://i.a.cnn.net/cnn/CNN/Programs/airport.network/CNN.APN.2007.pdf CNN Airport Network, 2007 Media Guide] ]The CNN Airport Network does have advertisements, but does not accept advertisements from any airline, to ensure that ads for one airline are not shown in another's gate area.
