History of JumpStart products

History of JumpStart products

In the mid-1990s, the company JumpStart was created as a series of educational games produced by Knowledge Adventure. By 2000, all the original games from Baby to 6th Grade were created (with the exception of JumpStart Kindergarten that was updated in 1998) and sold as a single disc. In 2000, all the games began to release with new covers (JumpStart 1st and 4th Grade updated considerably) and a second disc ("Around the World" for Kindergarten to 2nd Grade and "Adventure World" for 3rd Grade to 6th Grade) was added. In 2002, all the original games from Toddler to 2nd Grade (with the exception of JumpStart Pre K) were replaced with newer, "advanced" versions that featured characters from many games rather than just the specific grade level. The 3rd to 6th Grade versions remained the same with the added "advanced" label. All these games included 2 extra discs that varied per grade (5th and 6th grades were merged). In 2007, JumpStart Toddler and JumpStart 5th & 6th Grade were removed from the line and the remaining products were given an extra disc. Therefore, there are currently 6 packages, each with 4 discs that are "current versions".
